How long does it take to REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW?

How long does it take to REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW?

Both tables have materialized view logs and the view meets the criteria for a fast refresh. However, simply adding one new record to the ATTRIBUTE base table takes several minutes to commit. Yet, once the MV is refreshed, it shows as a fast refresh.

What should the default be for a materialized view?

When you define a materialized view, you can specify three refresh options: how to refresh, what type of refresh, and can trusted constraints be used. If unspecified, the defaults are assumed as ON DEMAND, FORCE, and ENFORCED constraints respectively.

When to use trusted constraints in materialized view?

You can also specify if it is acceptable to use trusted constraints and REWRITE_INTEGRITY = TRUSTED during refresh. Any nonvalidated RELY constraint is a trusted constraint. For example, nonvalidated foreign key/primary key relationships, functional dependencies defined in dimensions or a materialized view in the UNKNOWN state.

Is the materialized view left in the unknown state?

Any materialized view that can uses TRUSTED constraints for refresh is left in a state of trusted freshness (the UNKNOWN state) after refresh. This is reflected in the column STALENESS in the view USER_MVIEWS. The column UNKNOWN_TRUSTED_FD in the same view is also set to Y, which means yes.

How to create Materialized View in Oracle Database?

FROM A, P, pg, ap, pn WHERE p.id = pg.id (+) and pg.columname (+)= ‘Value’ Your materialized is not defined with a NEXT clause, therefore it will only refresh when you ask for it explicitely. You can use either DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH directly or create a refresh group with DBMS_REFRESH.

How long does it take to build a MV?

The MV takes about 5 minutes to build and contains around 3.5 million rows. The issue I am having is that after the MV is built, inserting a single new row in ATTRIBUTE takes around 3 minutes to commit. Without the MV the inserts work as fast as expected.
