How long will Drupal8 be supported?
Drupal 8 end of life is scheduled for November 2nd, 2021. With this end of life being just a few short months away, now is the time to migrate to Drupal 9. The first thing we want to cover is that Drupal 8’s end of life is different from Drupal 7’s end of life.
Is Drupal going away?
Recently, the company officially announced that the platform was reaching its EOL or ‘End Of Life’, and that loyal users would be forced to upgrade to Drupal 7 or 8. That means no more support from Drupal or from the community; no more fixes or security upgrades; and no more updates.
Is Drupal 7 supported?
The Drupal community will support Drupal 7 until November 2022. Buytaert has stated that after the community support ends, there will be extended commercial support for a minimum of three additional years, ensuring Drupal 7 will be supported for at least five more years, or until 2025.
When is the end of life for Drupal 7?
Since we expected a large number of sites to still be using Drupal 7 in 2020, we originally decided to extend community support of Drupal 7 until November 2021. Now, in light of the impact of COVID-19 on our community, we have now extended Drupal 7’s support and moved the end-of-life date to November 28, 2022.
What happens to Drupal 7 after the release of drupsal 9?
This means Drupal 7 will be supported for close to 2.5 years after the release of Drupal 9. Stable migration support for core modules is a requirement of Drupal 9, and that even includes a supported migration path from Drupal 6.
Is there any difference between Drupal 8 and 9?
