What does batchblock and actionblock mean in TPL?
BatchBlock (Grouping category) – You tell it the size of each batch you want and it will accumulate messages until it reaches that size and then forward it on as an array of messages to the next block. ActionBlock (Execution category) – Consists of a buffer and an Action delegate.
What’s the difference between TPL and TPL Dataflow?
TPL Dataflow is a data processing library from Microsoft that came out years ago. It consists of different “blocks” that you compose together to make a pipeline. Blocks correspond to stages in your pipeline. If you didn’t read the first post in the series then that might not be a bad idea before you read on.
How to forward items to only one specific target block?
TPL Dataflow, how to forward items to only one specific target block among many linked target blocks? I am looking for a TPL data flow block solution which can hold more than a single item, which can link to multiple target blocks, but which has the ability to forward an item to only a specific target block that passes a filter/predicate.
How to create a custom dataflow block type?
The following example shows the SlidingWindowBlock class. This class derives from IPropagatorBlock so that it can act as both a source and a target of data. As in the previous example, the SlidingWindowBlock class is built on existing dataflow block types.
What are the blocks in the TPL Dataflow library?
The TPL Dataflow Library provides several predefined dataflow block types that implement the ISourceBlock , ITargetBlock , and IPropagatorBlock interfaces. These dataflow block types are described in this document in the section Predefined Dataflow Block Types.
How does TPL Dataflow handle back pressure and load shedding?
In this way TPL Dataflow can easily accomodate both back-pressure and load-shedding. However, not all blocks pause when the block it feeds becomes full. The BroadcastBlock has a buffer of one message that gets overwritten by each incoming message.
