How can I get a unique ID for all my Arduino boards?
To identify your Arduino, you can make it Serial.Print (); name and version of the code during setup ();. I doubt that the USB interface on the Uno gives you a unique serial number. Any number would be part of the code uploaded to the chip which would therefore be the same amongst multiple Unos.
What do you need to know about RS485 master / slave addressing?
The software protocol would define what the message bytes represent and how the remote devices would respond to the message. The RS-485 standard would just insure that all slaves will receive the same message and allow the slave device (s) to send back messages as defined by whatever software protocol is being used,
What is the serial number of an Arduino?
I stumbled on this question while trying to find answer myself and decided to go with DS2401 referenced in the link provided in comments ( arduino.cc forum: “Arduino serial number S/N ?” ).
Can you change the source code of an Arduino?
Once you have uploaded a sketch to one of your Arduino boards, it is hard to know exactly what source code led to that sketch. Indeed, you may change the source code of your sketch on your PC without updating it (in binary format) to your board.
Which is the latest version of the Arduino board?
Duemilanove – This is the latest revision of the basic Arduino USB board. It connects to the computer with a standard USB cable and contains everything else you need to program and use the board. It can be extended with a variety of shields: custom daughter-boards with specific features. details
What kind of datasheet does Arduino use?
There are multiple versions of the Arduino board. The current basic board, the Duemilanove, uses the Atmel ATmega328 ( datasheet ). The older Diecimila, and the first run of Duemilanoves used the Atmel ATmega168 ( datasheet ), while older boards use the ATmega8 ( datasheet ).
What’s the difference between Arduino boards and shields?
The hardware index lists all the Arduino boards made and the differences between them. Shields are boards to be mounted on top of the Arduino board and that extend the functionality of Arduino to control different devices, acquire data, etc. Products from others that we’ve tried and liked; compatible with the Arduino software.
