Is billiards considered a sport?
Billiards is a sport, and you can play different games within the sport: eight- ball, nine- ball, three ball, one pocket and bank pool. Billiards category including pool, snooker and carom was presented in the 2005 World Games, held in Duisburg, Germany, and the 2006 Asian Games as a cue sports category.

When the ball lay near a rail, the mace was very inconvenient to use because of its large head. In such a case, the players would turn the mace around and use its handle to strike the ball. The handle was called a “queue”- meaning “tail”- from which we get the word “cue”.

What is the rule of billiards?
Scoring is achieved by “potting” balls, by “cannons”, and by going “in off”. A ball is “potted” when the cue ball knocks it into a pocket. A “cannon” is when the cue ball strikes first one ball and then the other. A player’s ball goes “in off” when it falls into a pocket having first “kissed” (struck) another ball.
