What does it mean to make a tile based game?
Once all crates have reached a destination tile, the level is complete. Tile-based development essentially means that our game is composed of a number of tiles spread in a predetermined way. A level data element will represent how the tiles would need to be spread out to create our level.
Why are there lines in my tile map?
This is a different problem. Anti aliasing gives you static lines that reposition when you move or zoom out. They appear as solid, black verticals and horizontals. This camera problem is flickering lines when the camera moves. They appear to all be vertical in my experience.
How can I Make my tiles bleed in Unity?
Set a fixed resolution in which game units will map perfectly to pixels. If you really want to support any resolution (not just common multiple like 640, 960, etc) then you will need to add a script to change the camera settings to ensure the view always maps directly to a number of pixels (or set up your tiles to bleed).
Why are there so many tile tearing problems in Unity?
It’s just silly, and the only reason I do not berate the devs for it is because Unity is a 3D engine, and was never intended to be a 2D one until recently. So they have time, IMO, to justify problems like this taking time to fix. justLC likes this.
Tile-based refers to the method of building levels in a game. The code will layout tiles in specific locations to cover the intended area. To get even more basic, I’ll put it like this: A tile-based game lays out tiles in order to create each level.

If you want something a bit more powerful, GIMP is an excellent option. You can also do some vector art with Inkscape and follow some amazing tutorials over at 2D Game Art For Programmers. Once you grab the software you can start experimenting with making your own tiles.
How to create data structures for tile based games?
Once you have defined the structure for your tiles, you need to create a ‘board’ to represent the map. The simplest implementation would be a grid-like tile approach. A 2D array can be used, where one dimension represents the ‘x-axis’ and the other represents the ‘y-axis’.
