Does pygame use OpenGL?

Does pygame use OpenGL?

Pygame doesn’t even have OpenGL bindings; you’d need to use PyOpenGL with it. If your goal is to learn OpenGL, my suggestion would be to use PyOpenGL, with Pygame. The API is closer to actual OpenGL.

Is pyglet an OpenGL?

pyglet provides an interface to OpenGL and GLU. The interface is used by all of pyglet’s higher-level API’s, so that all rendering is done efficiently by the graphics card, rather than the operating system. You can access this interface directly; using it is much like using OpenGL from C.

Does OpenGL work with Python?

OpenGL is a graphics library which is supported by multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, and MacOS, and is available for use in multiple other languages as well; however, the scope of this post will be limited to its usage in the Python programming language.

Can PyGame do 3D?

Pygame does not offer any functionality for drawing 3D shapes, meshes, or even perspective and lighting. If you want to draw a 3D scene with Pygame, you need to compute the vertices using vector arithmetic and stitch the geometry together using polygons.

Which is faster Pygame or PYGLET in Python?

I cannot comment other answers, so I have to make this new one, sorry. Speed-wise, Pyglet is definitely faster than pygame out-of-the-box, and speed is always a concern when developing with pygame (you have to update the smallest parts of screen, and remembering what has changed can be tedious). There is no such issue with pyglet.

Which is easier to use PYGLET or Cocos2d?

There is no such issue with pyglet. If you use cocos2d (a layer above pyglet) speeding-up things is even easier, just attach sprites to a BatchNode, and watch the FPS rise. As said in a comment pyglet as python3 support. It’s just my personal preference, but I like Pyglet much more, and with cocos2d on top, it’s really easy to learn.
