How to perform radiometric correction of Landsat images?
There isn’t a step-by-step instruction for this without knowing the exact data you have.
How are the processing levels of Landsat determined?
The processing level used is determined by the existence of ground control points (GCP), elevation data provided by a Digital Elevation Model (DEM), and/or data collected by the spacecraft and sensor (Payload Correction Data – PCD). Landsat scenes are processed to a Level-1 precision and terrain corrected product ( L1TP ) if possible.
Are there any Landsat images in the public domain?
This gallery includes all Landsat images published on the Earth Observatory, Visible Earth, and Landsat Science web sites from all seven Landsat satellites (Landsats 1-8, Landsat 6 failed to achieve orbit). All of the images are in the public domain and may be used with attribution. The correct attribution for imagery obtained from this site is:
How to get accurate NDVI values from Landsat?
The NDVI must also be run over numerous years using different Landsat sensors (eg: Landsat 7 Level 1, Landsat 4-5 Level 1 etc). My research has indicated that normalization across images (temporally, spatially and by sensor) are needed in order to get accurate NDVI values over time.
How does the apparent reflectance function work in Landsat 8?
Reflectance gain and reflectance bias (for Landsat 8) The function performs two corrections. The first is based on the gain settings. The original brightness values are re-created from the image values by reversing the gain equations. The second correction has to do with differences in sun angle and brightness.
Can a Landsat image be used for vegetation index analysis?
This one works with Landsat-8 imagery for getting at-sensor reflectance (which may not be the value you need for vegetation index analysis).
How to do radiometric calibration in ArcGIS Desktop?
It goes over radiometric calibration. To actually perform the calibration, you would use the Raster Calculator under Map Algebra in the Spatial Analyst toolbox.
