How do you set the extent of a map?
You could do this by clicking and dragging the corners of the map item using the Select/Move item tool (third down on the left). Alternatively, you could set the extents of the map item to the extents of the largest item in your canvas (the raster background, perhaps – right click -> Properties -> Information -> Extent).
How to extract the extent of a feature?
With the Feature Extents tool, we can easily extract the extent for the entire layer or for every single feature in the layer. Let’s do it. As you can see, I have a contour layer and we are going to extract the extents for the features in the layer. Go to SAGA >> Vector General >> Feature extents tool.
To access them, you have to click on the button on the right–hand side of the extent text box. Let’s see what each one of them does. The first option is Use layer/canvas extent, which will show the selection dialog shown below.
How does QGIS allow you to reproject data on the fly?
QGIS allows you to reproject data “on the fly”. What this means is that even if the data itself is in another CRS, QGIS can project it as if it were in a CRS of your choice. To enable “on the fly” projection, click on the CRS Status button in the Status Bar along the bottom of the QGIS window:
Why does QGIS not know where Cape Town is?
You can see why this is a problem. QGIS doesn’t know where Cape Town is supposed to be – that’s what the data should be telling it. If the data tells QGIS that Cape Town is 34 meters away from the equator and that South Africa is only about 12 meters from north to south, then that is what QGIS will draw.
How to get the same extent for a single layer?
In the case of a single input layer, as in the algorithm we are running, the same extent can be obtained by selecting that same input layer in the Use layer/canvas extent that we already saw.
How are parameters defined in shapes to grid?
Open the Shapes to grid algorithm, which creates a raster layer from a vector layer. All the parameters, except for the last two ones, are used to define which layer is to be rasterized, and configure how the rasterization process should work. The two last parameters, on the other hand, define the characteristics of the output layer.
What does a map theme do in QGIS?
A map theme is a snapshot of the current map legend that records: the layers set as visible in the Layers panel and for each visible layer: the reference to the style applied to the layer
How to control visibility of layers in QGIS?
Manage Map Themes: control visibility of layers and arrange them in different map themes. Filter Legend by Map Content: only the layers that are set visible and whose features intersect the current map canvas have their style rendered in the layers panel. Otherwise, a generic NULL symbol is applied to the layer.

The CRS menu enables you to choose the Coordinate Reference System for this project, and to enable on-the-fly re-projection of raster and vector layers when displaying layers from a different CRS. With the Identify layers menu, you set (or disable) which layers will respond to the identify tool. By default, layers are set queryable.

I think about split each cell into new raster file and than convert it to vector – maybe there is much easier way? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/21/qgispyt.png/ I will answer to myself. By using gdalinfo I can get exactly coordinates of raster corners and number of cells.
How to generate a GML file in QGIS?
By using gdalinfo I can get exactly coordinates of raster corners and number of cells. If I use this information I can generate a GML file – unfortunately I have problem with it: qgis GML If I understand what you want, there’s a more easy way to do this. In Quantum GIS:
