How do I view data in ArcGIS?
The following steps describe how you can view your data in ArcMap:
- Start ArcMap, open the Catalog window, and connect to your database.
- Click the table in the Catalog tree to select it.
- To view the data, drag the table from the Catalog window to the table of contents or the map.
How do I show a map in GIS?
You’ll start by opening Map Viewer and finding the data you want to show on your map.

How to add web services to ArcGIS portal?
You cannot add a geoprocessing service from the web as an item to the portal. You can add web services to Map Viewer and Scene Viewer directly using the REST endpoint URL of the service. When you add ArcGIS Server web services to a map or scene using the service URL, you configure settings for the web service layer within the map or scene.
Is the color of ArcGIS Map Service transparent?
You can also set a specific color in the service as transparent. The following graphic shows an ArcGIS map service. Since no transparency has been applied, you cannot see any layers underneath the states. In the next graphic, the yellow used as the fill color (above) for the states is made the transparent color.
How to limit the usage of ArcGIS portal?
Click Limit Usage. Check the Enable rate limiting check box and set up the limits: a maximum number of requests allowed for a specific period of time or the referrer URLs and IPs that can access your service—for example, the URL to your portal. You can also limit the rate and the referrer.
