Is it possible to copy and paste in QGIS?

Is it possible to copy and paste in QGIS?

With QGIS it’s easy to add a new part to an existing feature/geometry but I can’t see how to copy/paste this part from another existing feature/geometry. Is it possible? Start an edit session on both layers that you want to do the copy/paste between.

How to copy a feature from one layer to another?

Start an edit session on both layers that you want to do the copy/paste against. Use the Select feature by rectangle tool to select the feature in the map (copy from). Click the Edit (menu)>Copy Features button. Highlight the layer in the TOC that the feature will be pasted to. Click the Edit (menu)>Paste Features button.

How to import spatial data to PostGIS via DB?

Well, there are several ways to import spatial data into PostGIS. QGIS comes with a special database manager which is pretty handy to handle some databases supported by QGIS. For example, PostGIS, GeoPackage, and Spatialite. To open DB Manager, go to Database | DB Manager from the QGIS main menu.

Where can I find the database manager in QGIS?

QGIS comes with a special database manager which is pretty handy to handle some databases supported by QGIS. For example, PostGIS, GeoPackage, and Spatialite. To open DB Manager, go to Database | DB Manager from the QGIS main menu. In the DB Manager window, you will see a list of databases that are connected with QGIS.

When does a QGIS error do not occur?

The problem does not occur if the first point of your vector layer is not snapped to a 3d vector layer (in my case I am creating a 2d polygon from 3d point data) because the first point dictates to QGIS whether the layer is 2d or 3d. So you can simply start your new vector feature with a point that is not snapped to the 3d point layer.

What happens to temporary scratch layers in QGIS?

Temporary Scratch Layers are in-memory layers, meaning that they are not saved on disk and will be discarded when QGIS is closed. They can be handy to store features you temporarily need or as intermediate layers during geoprocessing operations.

What happens if somebody edits the same feature in QGIS?

This version of QGIS does not track if somebody else is editing the same feature at the same time as you are. The last person to save its edits wins. For an optimal and accurate edit of the vector layer geometries, we need to set an appropriate value of snapping tolerance and search radius for features vertices.

How to convert features to 3D from 2D in QGIS?

2- On the “save window” choose the option “inclui dimensao-z” in english is equal to “include Z data” I think. Thanks for contributing an answer to Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange!

How to clip polygons with another polygon in QGIS?

To not have overlapping polygons/features, I normally use one or more polygons to clip/shape other polygons. This is often much faster than tracing when adding polygons etc. I cannot find this functionality in QGIS. The highlighted polygon is overlapped by the adjacent (west/left) polygon with the straight edge.

Which is better, ArcGIS or QGIS attribute painter?

I still prefer ArcGIS way :)…it is more intuitive, interactive and easier to use! It’s not quite the same as ArcGIS’ Field Mapper tool, but the QGIS plugin Attribute Painter will allow you to copy multiple attributes from a source feature, and paste them onto a destination feature (s) in a different layer.

How to copy attribute values from one feature to another?

If you hold Shift, you can keep applying the same attribute values to other features. It’s there, select the source feature, hold shift and keep selecting features. Then click Merge attributes of selected features. Way more powerful than arcmap’s!

Do you have to digitize all vertices for QGIS to work?

The advantage is that you don’t have to digitize all vertices of the common boundary. If the new geometry is totally covered by existing ones, it gets cleared and the new feature will have no geometry when allowed by the provider, otherwise saving modifications will make QGIS pop-up an error message.
