How does object based image analysis improve processing efficiency?
Object-based image analysis (OBIA) improves processing efficiency by implementing image segmentation algorithms to combine groups of pixels into objects (segments) reducing the amount of information in and image.
How to segment a NAIP image in Python?
The code below demonstrates segmentation with the SLIC (Simple linear iterative clustering) and quickshift algorithms (lines 23 and 24, respectively). First, each of the 4 bands (red, blue, green, near-infrared) from the NAIP image is read as a numpy array with gdal. Band data are re-scaled to intensity values (ranging from 0–1).
What’s the minimum segment size for object based classification?
The Range radius value can be set to 600. The optimal value depends on datatype dynamic range of the input image and requires experimental trials for the specific classifcation objectives. The value for Minimum Segment size (in pixels) can be set to 25.
How to select the input image in msil2a?
Select the input image: Subset_S2A_MSIL2A_20170619T_MUL.tif (datatype uint 16bits). The Range radius value can be set to 600. The optimal value depends on datatype dynamic range of the input image and requires experimental trials for the specific classifcation objectives.
How are objects classified in object based image analysis?
The object based image analysis approach delineates segments of homogeneous image areas (i.e., objects) In a next step, the delineated segments are classified to real world objects based on spectral, textural, neighbourhood and object specific shape parameters
How to use open source Python to perform land cover classification?
This article describes how to use open source Python packages to perform image segmentation and land cover classification of an aerial image. Specifically, I will demonstrate the process of geographic object-based image analysis (GeOBIA)to perform supervised land cover classification in 5 steps. 1. Image Segmentation
