Is Lat Long a projection?
Not really a projection, but the graphical figure obtained by plotting latitude and longitude degree coordinates as if they were Y and X coordinates. It is also known as the geographical projection.
Which projection uses LAT long?
The default “unprojection,” it is also known as the geographical latitude / longitude projection. Note that one latitude / longitude projection may be different from another because each such projection assumes that a particular datum is in use.
What will make a latitude and longitude the most accurate?
A value in decimal degrees to an accuracy of 4 decimal places is accurate to 11.1 meters (+/- 5.55 m) at the equator. Because the earth is a spheroid and not flat, the accuracy of the longitude part of the coordinates increases the further from the equator you get. The accuracy of the latitude part does not increase.
When do you report the datum for lat / long coordinates?
When noting lat/long coordinates or giving lat/long coordinates to someone, you must always report the datum which is used by the coordinates. Without the datum information, the user will have to guess which datum your lat/long coordinates are in, and this often leads to misalignment of features.
When do you use a projected coordinate system?
A projected coordinate system is used for the output feature class instead of a geographic coordinate system. When a projected coordinate system is used, the X and Y coordinates from the table are expressed using linear measurements instead of decimal degrees.
How do you find lat long coordinates on a map?
To make a search, use the name of a place, city, state, or address, or click the location on the map to find lat long coordinates. Add the country code for better results.
Why are X and Y coordinates displayed at incorrect locations?
In ArcGIS Pro, X and Y coordinates added to a basemap from a table using the XY Table To Points tool are displayed at incorrect locations. The geographic coordinate system of the map extent does not match that of the output feature class.
