How do I download maps for GIS?
Download defined offline areas
- In the list of maps, tap the map that you want to download.
- Tap a map area. The map area begins downloading to the device.
- Once downloading completes, open the map area and work with it as you would any map in Explorer. You can open and use it whether or not you have a data connection.
Where can I find electoral and administrative boundaries?
All electoral and administrative boundaries are contained within the OSMM Topographic layer. It is a point and line structured dataset and does not contain polygons. Boundary-Line is captured against a lower resolution mapping backdrop and the boundaries are captured to represent the data at a nominal 1:10000 viewing scale.
Where can I download a UK boundary shape file?
The Office for National Statistics opened an Open Geography Portal in May 2013, which contains a wide range of UK boundary shape files. The ‘Download Boundaries’ section is one option, but I find it’s handier to use the ‘Browse’ section, then Digital Boundaries.
