What is working coordinate system?
Work Coordinate System (WCS) is the active coordinate system in use by Mastercam at any given time. The WCS tells the software how your part is positioned or oriented in the machine. The WCS contains the orientation of the XYZ axis plus the location of the zero point (the origin).
Where do we use coordinates in real life?
The Cartesian coordinate plane of x and y works well with many simple situations in real life. For instance, if you are planning where to place different pieces of furniture in a room, you can draw a two-dimensional grid representing the room and use an appropriate unit of measurement.
How is the alignment of a co-ordinate system established?
And this alignment should be established by measuring all datum features and processing them accordingly (primary/secondary/tertiary). For co-ordinate system, we have at least 2: one is a cartesian coordinate system with origin at the lower left corner and the other is a polar coordinate system with origin at the centre of a bolt hole pattern.
How is the coordinate system related to the machine?
The Coordinate System: What is Alignment? With today’s CMM software, the CMM measures the workpiece’s datums (from the part print), establishes the Part Coordinate System, and mathematically relates it to the Machine Coordinate System. The process of relating the two coordinate systems is called alignment.
The process of relating the two coordinate systems is called alignment. With a street map, we do this automatically by turning the map so that it is parallel to street (datum) or to a compass direction (i.e., north). When we do this, we’re actually locating ourselves to the “world’s coordinate system.”
What do you need to know about CMM part alignment?
Quality 101: CMM Part Alignment 1 Level or Spatial Alignment This must always be done before measuring any other feature. It helps to separate feature types by their 3-D (spatial) vs. 2 Rotation or Planar Alignment This always follows the level step. 3 Origin or Axis Translations
