Why quality data is important in GIS?
The accuracy of GIS maps varies dependent on the source of the data. Low quality GIS maps will cause end users to not rely upon the data in GIS. A process must be developed to ensure the continuous improvement of the data for GIS maps.
How to work with big geospatial data?
For a very large dataset, we divided the continental scale raster into hundreds of small squares using a grid, processed all of them individually and at the end merged the final results. This technique can even take a couple of days to complete but it is able to process very large datasets.
How are tiles used to process large datasets?
Every process starts with a single tile that spans the entire extent of the data. If the data in the single tile is too large to be processed in physical memory, it is subdivided into four equal tiles. Processing then begins on a subtile, which is further subdivided if the data in this second level of tiles is again too large.
