How do I import a map into Avenza?
Maps imported into Avenza Maps must be in a geospatial PDF or GeoTIFF format. To import a map, please open the app and from the Maps List select the import option (‘+’) icon, select the map from the desired location, and import.
How do I transfer my Avenza maps to my new phone?
To move your Android-purchased subscription to another device (Android or iOS), you will first need to log out of your existing subscription on your device….To log out of the subscription:
- Open Avenza Maps.
- Go to Settings > Details.
- Take note of the subscription code (you will need this for the new device)
- Tap Logout.

To export this map as a GeoPDF, from the Project menu choose Import/Export > Export Map to PDF. This provides options to: choose the map extent to export e.g. the current map extent or a user defined extent

Having completed the changes to the Print Layout, choose Layout > Export as PDF. Now once the GeoPDF is opened you will have the thematic styling, labeling and the other map elements e.g. Title, Scalebar and Legend as added via the Print Layout window. Note – the Layer Names now reflect their names within QGIS.

When opened the GeoPDF file will now have the list of layers on the left hand side of the image. Use the Layers Panel to now hide and display layers as required. For more advanced options it is suggested that you export to GeoPDF from within the Print Layout window.

Creating a georeferenced pdf is very simple. Once the map is finished, just select “File – Export Map…” as shown below. Go to the “Advanced” tab and check on “Export Map Georeference Information”.
