How to fix the normals of my model from Blender3D?

How to fix the normals of my model from Blender3D?

If some of the faces did have flipped normals in Blender it would be pretty obvious because it would have a very dark face (and the model inside of Unity would look like it has a hole in it, rather than being black.) Something else is going on. Not a Blender guy, so you’ll have to translate from my Maya jargon. Unlock the normals, then smooth them.

Why do some faces have different normals in Blender?

Depending on the tools you use in Blender to create your geometrie, some faces will end up with different kinds of normals and you want to smooth that out to get an even lighting later on. Actually the Normals are also wrong in Blender. The inverted faces have a different color. To make this more obious, press ‘N’ to show the Propeties Panel.

Is it possible to animate a lantern in Blender?

I modelled a simple arm holding a lantern that i’ll eventually try and animate with some jiggle bones for the lantern and simple animations on the arm. But i’m having a problem with the normals. They look fine in Blender3D but some faces are completely black and look strange when exported to Unity.

Is there a 3D model render pack for express?

I re imported into Blender to double check my materials and be sure there wasn’t some sort of weird alpha channel or something messing with my materials, but the model and materials looked fine in Blender. Any help would be appreciated! and yes I purchased the 3d model render pack for express which is why I posted here and not in the pro support.

What causes the shading to go bad in Blender?

The problem is caused by Blender trying to smooth the shading over too sharp corners. Use autosmooth, add an edge-split modifier, or try bevelling the edges. Also, you might wanna get rid of those triangles, as often long narrow triangles cause some shading problems Well, I deleted one of the faces and looked inside.

What are the problems with the unity Blender?

Second problem is i guess something about weights. It looks like unity is not getting weights how it should have so does anyone have idea what is problem there.

How to change the normals in Blender Stack Exchange?

To fix this, in Object Mode hit Ctrl + A > Scale, then do the operation described in answer you already found (in Edit Mode hit Ctrl + N or Shift + N for 2.8+) and then re-export. Thanks for contributing an answer to Blender Stack Exchange!

How do you export a model from Blender to unity?

You either: Used the model as is. Positioned the model correctly in the scene view, slapped it inside an empty GameObject, created a prefab out of it, and called it a day. Turned to Google to look for the “correct way” to export models to Unity. The first option works great at first since you don’t have to do anything extra.

Why does Blender mirroring screw up normals in Unity?

It looks like the normals are in the wrong direction. This is already very strange, because, while in Blender, the original cog-wheel and its mirrored counter part both had normals facing one way, when importing this in Unity, the original cog-wheel still looks ok (like in Blender) but the mirrored one now has normals inverted.
