What is aliasing in Illustrator?
Aliasing is the visual stair-stepping of edges that occurs in an image when the resolution is too low. Anti-aliasing is the smoothing of jagged edges in digital images by averaging the colors of the pixels at a boundary.
Why does aliasing occur in video games?
They can occur for variety of reasons, the most common being that the output device (display monitor or printer) does not have enough resolution to portray a smooth line. In real-time computer graphics, especially gaming, anti-aliasing is used to remove jaggies created by the edges of polygons and other lines entirely.
Do you need anti aliasing for vector graphics?
Vector graphics do not have anti-aliasing as they are not raster graphics. If you have jagged edges, it might be your display performance setting. I’ve seen that in InDesign, not sure if it exists in Illustrator at all, actually.
Is there anti aliasing in Illustrator CC 2015?
If you are having aliasing problems in Illustrator CC 2015, ⌘ + E toggles between GPU and CPU previewing. CPU’s anti-aliasing is 1000% better. Vector graphics do not have anti-aliasing as they are not raster graphics.
Why are my vector graphics appearing pixellated?
I have anti-aliasing turned on from Edit > Preferences > General, and the document resolution is at 300 ppi (I get the same result with 72 ppi). Could anyone help me with this? If relevant: Using CS6, and have a 24 inch Dell U2412M at 1920×1200 resolution. I do have a 21.6″ Samsung at 1680×1050 and I get the same result there as well.
What makes a vector image look smooth in illustrator?
This results in more pixels inside the shape and thus they are smaller relative to the shape: and the edges of the shape appear smoother. Unlike magnifying a printed pixelated image the dots themselves do not get larger when you zoom in using Illustrator; causing an apparently smoother edge.
