Do you need to unwrap for substance painter?
The short answer is: NO. There are still some really good reasons to spend some extra time to unwrap your models properly. But when the deadlines start piling up and you just need to texture something really quickly, Substance 3d’s Auto UVs is a pretty nifty feature to have.
Do UVs need to be straight?
You don’t “need” to use straight edges on hard surface stuff.. but you really really should, unless you can think of a good reason not to. I’m with Perna, I think it’s just to avoid texture warp. Even if you have straight lines, there’s no guarantee that the edge will be falling directly between two rows of pixels.

Why is it important to UV unwrap after modeling?
A UV map is the flat representation of the surface of a 3D model used to easily wrap textures. The process of creating a UV map is called UV unwrapping. Now to give life to the mesh and make it look more realistic(or stylized) you want to add textures.
Can a UV unwrap a substance painter?

Do we have various types of textures in 3D blender?
Blender has basically two types of textures, which are procedural textures and bitmap textures. The negative point about this kind of texture is that it’s harder to get realistic textures with it. Bitmap: To use this kind of texture, we will need an image file, such as a JPEG, PNG, or TGA file.
