Can Inkscape import PNG?
Inkscape can natively import most raster formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc.) as bitmap images, but it can only export PNG bitmaps.
Can you edit PNG in Inkscape?
As a vector graphics editor, Inkscape will not be able to edit the PNG image, hardly at all (because PNG is a raster format).
Can I edit a PNG file in Inkscape?
The first way in which you can edit a photo in Inkscape is by cropping it. From there, you can just resize your document based on the cropped image by pressing Control + Shift + R, and then you can export your work as a PNG file. I made a tutorial about this here if you need more details.

Can You distort an object in Inkscape?
So far, I’ve made the flat rectangle object, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to “distort it” in Inkscape. The path tool lets me do this for individual paths drawn with the pen tool, but I can’t figure out how to do it for the entire object. Thanks for contributing an answer to Graphic Design Stack Exchange!
Can a raster image be imported into Inkscape?
Inkscape imports a huge variety of raster image file formats, but only exports to PNG. There exist extensions for Inkscape that allow to export to JPG and other file formats. When the imported image is only linked in the document, and later moved away, Inkscape will not be able to find the image.
Why is my png not working in Inkscape?
Perhaps a small or transparent object there is causing the problem. Use Edit >Select All in All Layers and see whether the resultant box extends to the bottom right, in which case there’s an object there of some sort. Using View > Display Mode > Outline might help if it’s transparent.
What happens when you link an image to Inkscape?
Linking to an image means that Inkscape loads the raster image from the place where it is stored into Inkscape everytime the file is opened. In consequence, if you move or delete the raster image file or the SVG file, or share the file with someone else, the link between those two will break. Instead of the image, you will see a red frame.
