Why my public IP is not pinging?
This issue is typically caused by a problem with domain name server (DNS) resolution because the Internet service provider’s DNS servers are unavailable or a problem with the security software (usually a firewall) running on the computer which is attempting to access the Internet.
Why was my ping answered by a different IP address than the one pinged?
If your subnet mask were configured incorrectly, the router might respond to the ping. What was the subnet mask you were given? If you have a network admin assigning IP addresses, the same network admin should be able to troubleshoot the response.
Why is my server not pinging?
If it won’t respond to PING on a local network (ethernet, usually), then it could be a Firewall setting. I assume you are running Windows? In Windows XP, you can disable/enable ICMP packets. When you PING it sends an ICMP packet, which some some firewalls will filter.
Can pinging a website crash it?

Why is my machine not pinging other machines?
It is acquiring the IP address and it is also able to access Internet, however when I am trying to ping from other machine its not pinging. The machine is on HUB which is connected with network. What to do if you cannot Ping a device from a different computer?
Try to ping the IP address (not the name) of both the PC and the device you cannot connect to, from a different PC, preferably in a different location (different floor, office…) . Turn off any firewalls, AV or Malware protection (yes, just for a minute so you can test) . Check the Subnet mask on both systems. .
Do you need admin to Ping a machine?
It is the recieving pc that HAS to have the firewall off or have an exception for the other system. You don’t need admin to ping. Firewall is off on both the systems. I am not using admin to ping. That was just to provide you some more information that it is alos not allowing to login through admin.
