Can I ping between VLANs?

Can I ping between VLANs?

No as it’s the same network. In general you should avoid having two VLAN but in the same address space. Generaly speaking that will add a administration burden and block intervlan routing.

How do you communicate VLAN 1 to VLAN 2?

The simplest way to enable routing between the two VLANs to simply connect an additional port from each VLAN into a Router. The Router doesn’t know that it has two connections to the same switch — nor does it need to. The Router operates like normal when routing packets between two networks.

Why does my router not Ping between VLANs?

So I set up router on a stick, and it seems simple enough but I’m missing something and cannot figure out what! I’m able to ping the sub interface from either of my computers on different vlans, but I can’t ping between vlans. Background: Have 3 vlans set up. 1 – Native mgmt VLAN, 2 – VLAN CFP, 3 – VLAN ITAM on my switch.

Can a VLAN be removed from a router?

Verify your account to enable IT peers to see that you are a professional. Vlan 1 is the default vlan. You can’t remove it. You can assign every port to a different vlan than 1, but 1 will always be there. If you have a port in a different vlan and remove it, it has to go somewhere – that’s what vlan 1 is there for.

Can a router Ping from one LAN to another?

If your router has an address on each of your 5 lans, then pinging one is the same as pinging any other of them – it’s all the same appliance. That’s pretty standard. A ping can fail on any of the many steps it takes to get here and back.

Are there any ports on more than one VLAN?

Maximum ports are on vlan 100 and some are on other VLANs. Interface 7/1, 7/2 are on vlan 300. Config of 7/1 adn 7/2 is: I do not have any trunk ports as routing is already there. Any ideas and help is very much appreciated. Solved! Go to Solution. 10-30-2015 07:18 AM 10-30-2015 07:18 AM
