Do I need a router for each subnet?
You don’t need a router. If you set the subnet mask on all of the PCs to be 255.255. 0.0, then they should all be able to ping each other. Basically, opening up the subnet mask puts all of the PCs on the same subnet, so a router isn’t needed.
Can a subnet be associated with multiple route tables?
A route table can be associated with multiple subnets. However, a subnet can only be associated with one route table at a time. Any subnet not explicitly associated with a table is implicitly associated with the main route table by default.
What happens when there are multiple route statements from different routing protocols for the same destination network?
Load Balancing (1.2.2.3) What happens if a routing table has two or more paths with identical metrics to the same destination network? When a router has two or more paths to a destination with equal cost metrics, then the router forwards the packets using both paths equally. This is called equal cost load balancing.
How many routers can be in a subnet?
Pretty much every home router uses a subnet that supports a maximum of 250 connected devices. A subnet that allows for 250 devices is specified with the first three numbers of the four numbers in an IP Address with an X serving as a wildcard. For example, very popular subnets are 192.168. 0.
What is the difference between internet gateway and NAT gateway?
Difference is that NAT gateways are designed to provide instances in private subnets access to the public Internet outbound or other AWS resources. Internet gateway is designed to expose EC2 instances with public IPs to inbound traffic from the internet.
Which parameter does the router use to choose the path to the destination when there are multiple routers available?
If there are two or more possible routes to the same destination, the metric is used to decide which route appears on the routing table. The lower the metric, the better the route.
Do you need a router to access a subnet?
A network doesn’t need a router, a device does. Each device is assigned a subnet mask. The device can reach anything on that subnet, but needs a router to get to anything off the subnet. Devices on a network can have different subnet masks. For example, imagine these two devices:
How many devices can be connected to a subnet?
Pretty much every home router uses a subnet that supports a maximum of 250 (give or take) connected devices. A subnet that allows for 250 devices is specified with the first three numbers of the four numbers in an IP Address with an X serving as a wildcard.
Are there any subnets that start with 192.168?
Whether you opt for a subnet that starts with 192.168 or one that starts with 10, it is best to avoid subnets used by other devices.
How many devices can I connect to my router?
The first decision is the subnet, which specifies the range of allowable IP addresses on the LAN. This range also determines the maximum number of devices that can connect to the router. For most people, most of the time, a range that allows for 250 connected devices (give or take) should be sufficient.
