Why are hair particles not showing up in render?

Hi r/blenderhelp! I’m trying to render a character with hair particles in cycles render – the hair shows up perfectly in normal 3d view, but disappears when rendering (or even viewing the object with rendered view). I have experimental enabled, but I haven’t been able to find any other suggestions online.

How to remove hair particles from render and viewport?

Although the viewport softmax is 7, you can type 9 directly. On the hairtest file, reducing the hair steps to 7 makes it render correctly, but also reducing the count of children, or changing the children from interpolated to simple. In the hairfromcurves file though, only reducing the steps seems to work.

Why is hair not showing as expected in cycles?

If you apply scale of character or change the Radius Scale settings, hair should become obvious. Finally, @groosgood answered about hair color. HairBSDF shader is only working for Cycles, not EEVEE. And final result is relative to the way model is enlightened.

Why do particle hair appear black in cycles?

The color of the hairs is black regardless your settings in the “Hair BSDF” shader. But your problem is in the opposite direction: colored in EEVEE and black in Cycles. Maybe it’s a similar problem that there is a shader or setting only being supported by EEVEE. That´s the material for the ears. Nothing fancy or special :/
