Can hosts in different VLANs communicate?
A Vlan is a broadcast domain . By default hosts in single Vlan communicates to each other . But host in different Vlans won’t communicate to each other , to ensure communication between different Vlans host routing between Vlans is mandatory for Configuring routing between Vlan layer3 device is required .
What creates a VLAN?
VLANs provide logical segmentation of networks by creating separate broadcast domains that are defined on a switch port basis as opposed to the traditional broadcast domains, defined on physical boundaries. A VLAN can span multiple physical network segments.
Is it possible to Ping from one VLAN to another?
Can not ping from vlan A to vlan B (switch/router) Hey guys, I have a Cisco Catalyst C3750-24TS Switch and a Cisco 891-W Router, and I am unable to communicate from one VLAN to another.
How to Ping from routed switch to host?
Ping from routed switch to host I have two level 3 switches, one of which is routing. 2 vlans, 2 and 3. DHCP server on Router1 connected to SW1. Note, router is not routing via subint. SW 2 is routing. Router1 int g0/1 192.168.1.1 connected to SW1 Switch 1: Vlan 1 192.168.1.3 Fa0/2 connected to Host 1 with IP 192.168.2.3.
Why does switch 1 not know about VLAN 2?
Also looking at the information provided, you have not configured VLAN 2 on Switch 1, so Switch 1 does not know about VLAN 2 to be able to handle traffic for it. Once you have enabled VLAN 2, confirm what IP address you have assigned it. Thanks, Luke Expand Post LikeLikedUnlikeReply Modestas Edited by Admin February 16, 2020 at 4:37 AM
Why do I need a VLAN X interface?
Having a single interface vlan x will allow management access to the switch and will allow the switch supervisor to access other network resources. It will not have any impact on layer 2 forwarding or on layer 3 forwarding.
