Can you control Arduino with Raspberry Pi?
The Arduino board can be programmed in a variety of ways. You can use either the standard Arduino IDE or the Arduino Command Line Interface to compile and upload the code from either your main computer or directly from the Raspberry Pi itself.
How do I use Arduino and Raspberry Pi together?
The easiest way is to use a USB cable between both board. On the Raspberry Pi side, a simple USB connector is all you need. You can choose any of the 4 USB ports available on the board. For Arduino, you will use the USB port that you use to upload code from your computer (with the Arduino IDE) to your board.
How does the Arduino communicate with the Raspberry Pi?
The image processing and control is done on the Raspberry Pi. It communicates with the Arduino that sends orders to the motors (direction and speed) using Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM ). We detail the communication between the Arduino and the Raspberry Pi in the appendix.
Do you need to unplug Arduino from Raspberry Pi?
If using your main computer, you will need to unplug the Arduino from the USB port once the code has been uploaded and then plug it into the Raspberry Pi each time you need to update the code. Regardless of the method you choose, the vast majority of this tutorial should still apply, however, some minor changes may be necessary.
What kind of GPIO does a Raspberry Pi use?
However, all of them, other than USB, typically require some form of level shifting circuitry since the Arduino Uno boards utilize 5 V GPIO and the Raspberry Pi uses 3.3 V.
Can a Pi 2 be used as an Arduino?
Do not use the Arduino’s barrel-jack power input – a Pi 2 or 3 can supply enough power for an Arduino board over USB. Enter the code from PIRBlink.ino and save it as PIRBlink using File > Save. It will be saved inside the Arduino directory in your home directory.
