What are the delays in the BCM2835 library?
As delivered, the bcm2835 library has a lot of 10us delays in the SPI code. This is especially apparent in high-speed SPI like this. At 4MHz, each byte of data takes about 2us, but this is dwarfed by the extra 10us pauses scattered before, between, and after transferred bytes.
When to include lbcm2835 in GCC makefile?
When you compile you also need to include -lbcm2835 so the libraries object file is added to the final compilation. In a simple makefile for a project with a single file called main.c: all: output_file_name output_file_name: main.o gcc main.o -lbcm2835 -o output_file_name main.o: main.c gcc -c main.c clean: rm -rf *o output_file_name
How to use BCM2835 C library for SPI?
In my looking around the web I had also come across the bcm2835 library which also claimed to provide easy access to SPI from C. I followed the instructions to download, build, and install it: I then copied the source code from examples/spi and edited the spi example to:

Is the BCM 2835 library compatible with Linux?
It is C++ compatible, and installs as a header file and non-shared library on any Linux-based distro (but clearly is no use except on Raspberry Pi or another board with BCM 2835).
How to initialize the BCM2835 library in LabVIEW?
Initialize: Opens the BCM2835 library. Must be called before accessing any other function in the library. It will return an error if the library cannot be opened. Init + Version: Identical to ‘Initialize’, except that it also returns the library version embedded in the C-code (“10050”, which is version 1.5).
