How do you copy Vertex groups from one mesh to another?

- Select object where you’d like the vertex group to copy to.
- With this object still selected, Shift + RMB to select object which has original vertex group.
- Choose Copy Vertex Group entry from drop-down menu.
How do you copy vertex weights?
In the Paint Skin Weights Tool, switch to Select or Paint Select mode. Select a vertex whose weight value you want to copy, then click the Copy tool icon . Select the vertices where you want to paste the value and click the Paste tool icon . The weight value you copied is pasted to all selected vertices.
How to copy bone weights to another object?
If the shoe moves unexpectedly when parenting, remove the parent, click on the armature, go into [object mode] and press [ctrl]+ [A] and apply the scale/location/rotation to the armature. Now the parent should work as expected. edit2: If you only want to do a few bones at a time, ignore step 6/7.

Yes you can project weights/vertex groups from one mesh to the other: hold [shift] and select your second mesh (shoe). Both should now be highlighted slightly different colors (human:orange, shoe: yellow) Enter Weight paint mode. Change [Object mode] to [Weight Paint]
Is there a way to transfer vertex weights?
Also tried: Transfer Weights – but that is only for transferring to a different mesh, keeping the same bones. Copy Attributes/Vertex Weights – appears to only transfer to different mesh as well. For your main question, I don’t think there is a native way to do that. I am sure a script could be written to do what you want.
How to transfer weights from one bone to another in Blender?
Note: Using Assign button doesn’t seem to work because you have to select a weight by using a slider and all the vertices that you assign will have this weight. Also tried: Transfer Weights – but that is only for transferring to a different mesh, keeping the same bones.
