Can you have a static IP over Wifi?
Assigning a static IP address to a computer allows it to use the same IP address every time. This is in contrast to having a router assign a dynamic IP address to your computer, where the IP address changes every time you connect and reconnect to the wireless network.
How many devices can be on static IP?
If you want to use a single (dynamic or static) IP address for more than one device you need to set up a NAT router. Any access router should be able to do it. Local devices can get dynamic, private addresses from a DHCP server and the NAT router provides private/public address translation (source NAT).
Can I use 2 Wifi connections at the same time?
Originally Answered: Is possible to use two wifi networks at the same time? Yes, with two adapters. An example of this would be a laptop connected to the internet via one adapter and to a GoPro via its private Wifi network on the other.
What can I do with two static IPs?
ISP modem -> unmanaged ethernet switch -> two Fortinets (one using DHCP, other using static IP address) The owners have a second static IP address that is not being used for anything. They would like to be able to access their camera’s DVR through the internet and possibly use a separate router for only employees.
How is DHCP used in multiple static IPs networking?
One is running off of DHCP that provides internet to a POS system and the other is using a static IP address that allows public internet access to the customers of the cafe. ISP modem -> unmanaged ethernet switch -> two Fortinets (one using DHCP, other using static IP address)
Can a router be set with a static IP?
Verify your account to enable IT peers to see that you are a professional. You can have an IP range at the modem, but it would need to be set in pass though mode. Each of the routers would then be set with a static IP on its wan interface from that range.
Why are my devices not picking up static IPs?
The strange thing is that when one would be picked up from the ISPs end, the other static IP address would not be picked up, and as a result whatever device was connected to that static IP address wouldn’t work. I’m not a network expert, so this is very confusing for me.
