Is digital RGB and addressable RGB the same?
Digital RGB (AKA addressable-RGB) allows the LEDs in a device to be controlled individually. This is different from having a unique color on each device or having a device’s change color in sync. Effects enabled by digital RGB are those that require each LED on each device to have its own unique color.
Can I plug a 3-pin RGB into a 4 pin?
Can You Use a 4-pin Connector with a 3-pin Connector? While it might seem like if your motherboard has a 4-pin connector, you could just connect a 3-pin LED strip to it (and vice-versa). But, this isn’t the case. Make sure you know what RGB connections your motherboard has and the LED strips or fans you’re using have.

What are the advantages of individually addressable RGB LEDs?
Individually addressable RGB LED strips come in 5V and 12V, and each strip has some unique advantages. 12V LED strips are less susceptible to voltage drop and are therefore able to travel longer longer distances before the LEDS become dim and the colors become inaccurate.
What are the different types of RGB strips?
RGB LEDS strips come in hundreds of shapes, sizes and configurations, but they can be broken into two major categories… 3 Channel RGB strips, and Individually addressable RGB strips. A 3 channel strip has 3 different ground circuits and one common voltage, each different ground channel controls a different color of light (Red, Green, or Blue).
Is the WS2812 RGB LED strip compatible with Raspberry Pi?
After using the latter in a previous tutorial and using it in our Ambilight, this tutorial is about using the Raspberry Pi WS2812 RGB LED Strip. The models WS2812B and WS2811 are also compatible and can be addressed with this guide. It must be said that one should not be fooled by the “smaller” model number of the WS2801.
