What temperature does nylon print at?
Nylon filaments typically require extruder temperatures near 250 ºC, however, some brands allow printing at temperatures as low as 220 ºC due to their chemical composition.
What temperature does nylon dry at?
80-120°C
Vacuum drying is the best means of drying nylon. Appropriate drying conditions are a temperature of 80-120°C and a vacuum pressure of 1013 hPa. Drying time should be 10 to 48 hours, depending on the pellet water content.
Do you need an enclosure to print nylon?
Due to it’s moisture absorption and being sensitive to temperature changes we recommend to use: A print chamber enclosure (temperature controlled would be even better). Heated bed not necessary for all nylon filaments (yet preferable). Some sort of adhesion spray or glue stick to prevent warping.
What happens when you use dry nylon for 3D printing?
When you 3D print with nylon filament that isn’t dry, the water in the filament explodes causing air bubbles during printing that prevents good layer adhesion, greatly weakens the part and ruins the surface finish. No doubt about it; successful 3D printing with nylon and nylon-based materials require dry filament.

Filament drying systems like PrintDry are highly recommended to remove moisture from hygroscopic filaments for maximum strength and durability in your 3D prints. We’ve found 3D printing nylon can warp about as much as ABS. When printing on glass or garolite, a heated bed is required with nylon filament.

Nylon filament temperature wants to be around 240C-260C and up. We recommend experimenting with temperatures above this, incrementally to find the best Nylon printing temperature. Heated bed wants to be at around 80C+.
What’s the best way to print on nylon?
Run your nylon substrates through your conveyor dryer on low heat before printing. Smooth out any wrinkles. Nylon is a notoriously wrinkly fabric. Make sure that your printing surface is free of any wrinkles that might inhibit your print.
