A personal account is an account for use by an individual for that person’s own needs. It is a relative term to differentiate them from those accounts for business or corporate use.

When you create an individual record, Salesforce creates an account record and a contact record. Usually, with the unified object view, individual records appear in Salesforce as a person, not as separate account and contact records.
