How do you name variables in statistics?
Rather than list out forbidden special characters, we simply request variable naming use only (lowercase) letters, numbers, and “_”. Thou shalt not use spaces in variable names, nor dataset names, but rather use an underscore.
What’s the difference between the field label and the variable name REDCap?
Field Names and Field Labels They’re often called variables – in REDCap, the terms are interchangeable. For the most part, the variable name is hidden from users’ view and stored on the back end of REDCap. Its format is all lowercase letters, replaces spaces with underscores, and it cannot start with a number.
What is a static field?
A static electric field (also referred to as electrostatic field) is created by charges that are fixed in space; A static magnetic field is created by a magnet or charges that move as a steady flow (as in appliances using direct current).
What is an arm in REDCap?
In REDCap an “arm” is a construct that allows study events to be grouped into a sequence. A REDCap project has one arm by default although this is only evident if your study is longitudinal.
What are smart variables?
Smart Variables are dynamic variables (from a predefined list of 35 that can be found below) that can be used in calculated fields, conditional/branching logic, and piping. But instead of pointing to data fields, Smart Variables are context-aware and thus adapt to the current situation.
Can you have same name for variable and column?
In Conditional predicates column names get prioritized over variable names. Hence in this case id = id both would be considered as table columns and condition will be evaluated into TRUE for all rows. There is no such rule while choosing the name of the variables.but it’s better to keep the standards.
Can a variable have the same name but different type in Java?
You cannot have variables having same name (but different type) to exist in the same scope. Consider if it was possible then how would the java compiler determine which one you meant.
Can you have two fields with the same name in the same class?
“Of course you cannot have int x and long x fields in the same class, just as you cannot have two methods with the same name and parameter list.”. A better analogy is that you cannot have a method with the same name and a different type in the same class.
Is it possible to have variables with the same name in the same scope?
You cannot have variables having same name (but different type) to exist in the same scope. Consider if it was possible then how would the java compiler determine which one you meant. The java compiler cannot understand which x you are actually referring to. So such a code is not syntactically correct and not compilable.
