Is it possible to make a texture repeat in Blender?

Is it possible to make a texture repeat in Blender?

That’s possible in Blender’s Node Editor, albeit not exactly intuitive. We need to add both a Texture Coordinate node, as well as a Mapping node to our shader to make this happen.

Why is this texture stretching rather than tiling?

I’ve watched a number of tutorials on texturing and thought I was following the processes that were shown, but when I try to texture these inside walls, it works alright on walls oriented along the y axis, but on the x axis, they stretch rather than tiling and I can’t figure out why. Edit I am using Blender 2.78 a and the Cycles render.

How can I apply textures without…?

As the faces are long thin rectangles and the image is squared, the applied texture looks distorted (scaled on th z axis). Start from marking the top and bottom edge rings and one of the vertical edges as Seams. Notice that the edge marked as Seams are now drawn with a red highlites to be distingushed from the others.

Do you need to unwrap a procedural texture?

Where there is a seam, you’ll have a discontinuity if your texture is not seamsless. Depending on what is the purpose, you’ll have to find an equilibrium point between seams (discontinuity) and streching (distortion). Procedural textures don’t need unwrap because are mathemathically defined in the 3D space.

How do you make a texture smaller in Blender?

Once connected, you should see no difference – but no texture weirdness either (other than the wrong scale). To make a texture smaller, increase all the Scale Values in the Mapping Node. To decrease the texture size, increase the Scale Values on the Mapping Node.

How to scale / repeat texture on object?

For fast editing of the 3 values simultaneously, left click on the x fileld, drag to z field without releasing, then – still without releasing – drag left to decrease and right to increase the value. A bigger value means smaller texture. Thanks for contributing an answer to Blender Stack Exchange!

What’s the best way to scale a texture?

Sadly, that texture is often scaled incorrectly. While it is possible to edit the UVs to make it all look handsome, there is an easier way for us to scale textures, namely by adding a Mapping Node into the shader. Here’s how it worked for me. In the Node Editor, add a Mapping Node (SHIFT+A, then find it under Vector).
