How I reduced Eevee render times by 85%?
Blender’s EEVEE render engine delivers incredibly fast performance compared to Cycles, but it’s still far from instant. In this video, I’ll show you how I reduced the render time of an EEVEE animation by 85% compared to typical EEVEE settings.
Why does lighting take so long in Eevee?
Accurate lighting is a process that really takes time, and there’s no way around it. EEVEE lets you compute lighting in advance (very slowly), but that doesn’t work if you want to bounce light off of things that keep moving around, and it does need you to set up where the samples should be taken from and at how many.
Which is better blender or Eevee renderer?
Blender can sorta do that at acceptable speed in the viewport, but it does so at reduced resolution (bigger pixels) and very few samples. Blender 2.8 introduces the EEVEE renderer. It doesn’t quite give you the best of both worlds, but it does look far better than the internal renderer that was in 2.7. But there’s stuff that it cannot do.
Which is the best shader to use for Eevee?
EEVEE performs best with the Principled shader, so use that as often as possible. Reuse node-groups if you can, so they only have to compile once (at least this helps in Cycles, not sure about EEVEE). Bake procedural textures and the result of MixRGB nodes/ color ramps for textures that aren’t being used in multiple materials.
Which is faster Eevee or cycles for graphics?
Here Eevee is 11 times faster than Cycles when running on the same machine. As the scene gets more complex, Eevee starts showing its potential and the speed difference increases. Again, when moving the Cycles render to our regular GPU machines, the difference drops to Eevee being only 2.4x faster for the same image.
What’s the difference between Eevee and cycles in Blender?
All tests have been done using the Blender 2.80 version available on our farm, from February 26th. The first two scenes have been modified so that both renders (Cycles and Eevee) look approximately the same. This means a slightly different scene setup for each version, to obtain a close enough visual quality.
