Cached Playback lets you see changes made to your animation without the need to create a playblast. It appears as a blue stripe running along the bottom of the Time Slider.
How do I disable Cached playback?
Disable Cached Playback by clicking the Cached Playback Toggle icon in the Playback Controls at the bottom right of the Time Slider. Disable GPU deformation by unchecking the GPU Override checkbox in the Animation preferences.
What is animation cache?
Cached Playback lets you see changes made to animation immediately, rather than needing to create a Playblast.
How do I clear my cache in Maya?
Select the object for which you want to delete all of its geometry caches. In the Animation menu set, select Cache > Geometry Cache > Delete Cache Options. All of your object’s geometry cache nodes and corresponding cache clips are deleted.
What is cache in Maya?
Cache files let you quickly preview the results of a simulation without having to render the scene. This offers many benefits, including being able to scrub back and forth in the time slider, and re-using a cache over again.
What is cached preview AE?
After Effects previews compositions by creating temporary video files that are stored on your machine. These files are known as ‘cached’ preview files and they come in two flavors: Disk Cache and RAM Cache files. RAM cache files are the preview video files that After Effects plays when you hit the spacebar.

A file that stores positions of vertices and other data for Maya simulations such as cloth or fluids. There are three different cache file formats: hair, fluids, and jiggle. geometry and nCloth.
Why is Maya using so much RAM?
Cache texture tiles using BOT (block ordered texture) For Maya software rendering only. When you render, scripts, scenes, textures, and so on, are loaded into RAM.
Are there any features that do not support cached playback?
Dynamics simulation, Non-linear animation (such as Time Editor, and Trax), and XGen-related features do not support Cached Playback. For a list of the unsupported nodes that disable the caching process, see Cached Playback unsupported nodes.
How does the simulation work in Blender cache?
The simulation is only calculated for positive frames in between the Start and End frames of the Cache panel, whether you bake or not. So if you want a simulation that is longer than the default frame range, you have to change the End frame. When an animation is played, each physics system writes each frame to the cache.
What to do when cached playback runs out of memory?
If Cached Playback gets close to running out of memory, warning messages appear on the Help line. You can use the Range Slider to reduce the playback range or allocate more memory to the caching process in the Cached Playback Preferences. If the allocated memory limit is reached, caching is stopped, although you can conitue working.
Is it possible to cache a simulation in Houdini?
If you turn on Allow caching to disk, instead of dropping old frames, Houdini will write them as .sim files to the temporary directory. Scrubbing through these on-disk frames is slower than in-memory frames, but this allows you to cache an entire large simulation.
