Does GIAC certification expire?
General Information. GIAC certifications require renewal every four years. Registration is enabled at the 2-year mark prior to your certification expiration date. We offer several options to demonstrate ongoing competency in the Information Assurance field and maintain your GIAC certification.
How do I extend my GIAC exam?
If your GIAC certification attempt expires, you have 30 days after your deadline to purchase a 45-day extension. In order to purchase, log into your account and click on “Certification Attempts” and then the “Purchase Extension” link.
How many CPEs is a SANS course?
You may earn 1 CPE per class hour, or 6 CPEs per full day. You may earn all 36 CPEs needed to renew a certification within this category.
Do CPE credits expire?
Will my exam credits expire? A: No. Once you have passed all four sections of the Uniform CPA exam, your exam credits do not expire. How long does GCIH last?

The expiration date will always be exactly four years after your cert was issued. 4. During these four years, you will need to collect CPE credits in order to renew your certification by the expiration date.
How are CPE credits calculated?
CPE Credit Calculation Standard No. 16 provides that sponsored learning activities are measured by actual program length, with one 50-minute period equal to one CPE credit. To one-half credit: 1.5 CPE credits. To one-fifth credit: 1.4 CPE credits.
Does passing the CPA Exam expire?
No. Once you have successfully completed all four sections of the Exam, your scores will not expire.
Is GIAC difficult?
GSEC, like others have said, is a very broad subject exam. I’d consider it a hard exam due to that. The other GIAC exams are far more focused on a specific subject and that allows you to concentrate on a specific item when studying. Have a well defined index, use the practice exams to tune your index, and pass an exam.
Are GIAC certifications worth anything?
While almost any GIAC cert is valuable, the GCIH is highly desirable by employers, a quick search on Indeed, I get over 1,300 hits for GCIH where the GPEN gets 460 hits.
