What is same-origin policy in CSRF?
For example, the same-origin policy allows inter-origin HTTP requests with GET and POST methods but denies inter-origin PUT and DELETE requests. Additionally, origins can use custom HTTP headers when sending requests to themselves but cannot use custom headers when sending requests to other origins.
What is the same-origin policy issue?
The same-origin policy is a critical security mechanism that restricts how a document or script loaded by one origin can interact with a resource from another origin. It helps isolate potentially malicious documents, reducing possible attack vectors.
Why do we need same-origin policy?
Do I need Csrf if I have CORS?
You should protect against CSRF on any inputs that can change state imo. If no one from another origin is able to make requests to your site (CORS disabled), then CSRF is redundant imo.
Can you trick CORS?
A: In browser and using scripting, you cannot override Origin as it’s in the control of browser. However, if you want to hack yourself, you can tamper the calls coming out of YOUR browser using browser extensions or other tools you install on your machine.
How does same origin Policy ( SOP ) work?
Same Origin Policy (SOP) is a browser-level security control which dictates how a document or script served by one origin can interact with a resource from some other origin. Basically, it prevents scripts running under one origin to read data from another origin.
Why is post and get excluded from same origin policy?
These kind of interactions between sites predate the development of the same origin policy. If the same origin policy would be extended to incorporate POST and GET too then lots of sites would probably break. Therefore any POST and GET which can be created by linking, embedding or forms are excluded from the same origin policy.
Is the origin property the same for two services?
The origin property is also different for two services running on the same host with different port numbers e.g. http://test.com:8081 and http://test.com:8082 are considered to be different origins.
