Are 3D printed cookie cutters safe?
For the most part, 3D printed cookie cutters are food safe because they are not in contact with the cookie dough for very long and because the cookie is baked after it is cut, which kills any bacteria.
Speaking of investment, I’ve printed over 60 cutters from one roll of filament. If you’re looking at an average price of 4.00-5.00 per cookie cutter from 3D shops that means the machine would pay for itself in about one roll of filament for me.
An ordinary drinking glass is one of the most common solutions, and it works very well. You can use different sized glasses to create cookies of various sizes. It’s best to dip the rim in flour first, so the dough doesn’t get stuck inside. Glasses with a thin rim work best because they cut through the dough easier.

How to print a cookie cutter in Inkscape?
Copy the contents of the ZIP file into your Inkscape/share/extensions directory (on my Windows system, c:\\Program Files\\Inkscape\\share\\extensions ). The cookie cutter extension expects an SVG file satisfying these conditions:
I have also attached all the SVG files I used in this step. Open a new project in Tinkercad and expand the Import window. Make sure File is selected and click Choose File. Find the file for the background on your computer. Select the scale appropriate to make your file the size you want for the cookie cutter.
Load file into OpenSCAD. Adjust parameters at the top of the file to taste. The size parameter is the size of the cookie cutter in millimeters. Adjusting this will resize the cookie cutter without changing wall thickness, which is handy. Press the cube+hourglass icon at the top of the code to generate mesh.
