What are hidden edges?
A hidden line, also known as a hidden object line is a medium weight line, made of short dashes about 1/8” long with 1/16”gaps, to show edges, surfaces and corners which cannot be seen. Sometimes they are used to make a drawing easier to understand. Often they are omitted in an isometric view.
Hidden Lines If an edge or surface is blocked from view by another feature, it is drawn using a hidden line. Figures 4-11 and 4-12 show objects that require hidden lines in their orthographic views.
How do you unhide hidden lines in Sketchup?
Just show your hidden geometry, select the edges you want to unhide, and choose Edit→Unhide→Selected.
Hidden details are shown by a series of dashes making up a broken line. It is normal practice that you place a dash at the beginning of the hidden line and another at the end where it meets an intersecting line.
Do isometric views always show hidden lines?
Usually only the visible surfaces of an object are drawn in isometric, with hidden lines left out. Although this is considered the preferred practice, there are always times when hidden lines are needed to clarify very complex isometric drawings.
In SketchUp, any geometry that’s hidden is still there. You just can’t see or select it. To see the hidden geometry or objects but keep them hidden, choose View > Hidden Geometry or View > Hidden Objects.
How do you curve edges in SketchUp?
Double click on the object you want to round the corners of. Then select the “round corner” button from the Freedo6 plugin. Under the “rounding parameters” options select the “offset” button to set the offset amount.
Section views do not include hidden lines. Any material cut when a section view is defined is hatched using section lines. There are many different styles of hatching, but the general style is evenly spaced 45° lines.
What is the heaviest line in a drawing?
The heaviest line weight indicates the ground line cut. The next heaviest line weight “profiles the planes closest to the plane of projection” (Ching & Juroszek, 1998, p. 152). Medium line weight indicates distance from picture plane, progressively getting lighter to describe objects further from the picture plane.
