How to create rings with wave texture in Blender?
So the wave texture would move in this direction: I’ve tried messing around with the rotation and location of the wave but I can’t get it to move in the direction I want. How would I do this? You can use the “Object” output of the Texture Coordinate node, together with the “Rings” type wave texture.
How to sample the texture of a wave?
Texture coordinate to sample texture at; defaults to Generated texture coordinates if the socket is left unconnected. Overall texture scale. Amount of distortion of the wave. Amount of distortion noise detail. Scale of distortion noise. Blend between a smoother noise pattern, and rougher with sharper peaks.
How are bands and rings shaped in Blender?
Bands or Rings shaped waves. The axis the bands or rings propagate from i.e. which axis they are perpendicular to. When using Bands a Diagonal axis is an option and when using Rings the rings can propagate outwards from a single point by using Spherical direction. Controls the look of the wave type.
How to align wave texture to the x axis?
Likewise, if you want it to follow the X-axis, connect only the X output to the X input. If you choose both Y and Z, your texture will be at a 45-degree angle because it’s affected half by the Y coordinate, and half by the Z. You can also think of it bisecting the axes you use.
Why is the texture rotated in Cycles render engine?
Ok, I’m years late to the party, but the reason the texture is rotated is because it’s applying the mapping using the X, Y, and Z coordinates equally. If you want to constrain it to a single axis, you can just use a “SeparateXYZ” node followed by a “CombineXYZ” node and only use the axes you want.
Which is an offset to a randomized transformation?
The random seed is an offset to the randomized transformation. A different seed will produce a new result.
