How do you set up a loop light?
Loop lighting is created by placing your light slightly above eye level of the subject and 45º off axis (give or take). This shifts the nose shadow to one side of the face. Instead of a butterfly-ish shadow, you’ll end up with a small loop.
What is short loop lighting?
Loop lighting creates a small shadow of the subject’s nose on his or her cheek. Loop lighting is a lot like Rembrandt lighting, but in loop patterns, the shadow of the nose and the shadow of the cheek do not touch.

When to use fill light or side light?
When used with a fill light, it’s advisable to lessen the fill light’s intensity down to 1/8 of that of the side light to keep the dramatic look and feel of a scene. Side lighting brings out the textures or edges in a scene. Using side lighting creates a better sense of depth in a location.
