How do you keep track of assigned tasks?
There are at least four ways to track delegated assignments:
- Use a page in your journal. This is the simplest, most low-tech solution.
- Use Outlook, Entourage, or Mail folders. Nearly all of the assignments I delegate happen via email.
- Use Outlook, Entourage, or Mail tasks.
- Use a dedicated task manager.

How to track time spent on a project in SharePoint?
You can compare the planned working time and the actual time worked on a project or work package and adjust the completion percentage to project the amount of time needed to complete the work. The work reports contain all of the timesheets for your team.
The main feature of using separate project lists or webs is the ability to plan your project in Microsoft Project and sync it with the SharePoint list. Next, define the manager (s) and administrator (s) of the project. Only managers and administrators can modify the project and add tasks and work packages.
For whatever reason (might be a bug), if task item is assigned to multiple people in SharePoint Task List, it only shows as assigned to 1 person – whoever appears first in the Assigned To field – this might mislead the users. All synchronized SharePoint Tasks appear as a single list of tasks in Outlook.
Can you use a formula for tracking progress?
This type of tracking would rely on todays date (how long till [Due Date] ) and can not be done with a standard Formula because a List Item has no clue about ‘today’. Although many blogs claim otherwise, you can not use Today in a Calculated Column Formula because those Formulas are only re-calculated when an Item is updated.
