How to create a multi line text box in InfoPath?
Go to the site columns list, create new. Then select “Multiple lines of text” for the data type. Select “yes” for the option “Allow unlimited length in document libraries:”. When you are promoting fields in the publish wizzard in InfoPath, select the site column you created to match the multiline text box or rich text box.
If you use a rich text box, then the control will expand dynamically as text is entered. You can use this field in a browser form, but the text will not promote into a SharePoint column as rich text. To make a plain text box have scrollbars, go to the properties of the control itself, go to Display, and set it to Multi-Line + “use scroll bars.”
Is there a way to ensure multi-line text fields?
Multi-line is set in the display properties for these fields. Is there a way to ensure multi-line text fields word break when sent and displayed via email? Rich-text fields are not an option as an alternative I’m afraid.
What are the issues with InfoPath 2013 form?
I have created a InfoPath 2013 form and I am having issues with rich text box not expanding automatically with “Expand to show all the text” setting is being set with wrap text. in the preview form it shows good but When I publish the form it shows the rich text fields with scroll bars.
Is there a limitation to the InfoPath form?
Moreover, the lack of rich text flavor in a promoted field is not an InfoPath limitation. It is a SharePoint Document/Form Library limitation. In any library within a SharePoint site, if you add a multiple lines of text column it will come without the option for rich text/html. That is only available in lists.
During testing, we noticed that once the form was submitted, the rich-text field in InfoPath displayed as a Single Line of Text field in SharePoint but the client was sure that all justifications would be short. Famous last words.
That’s how it promotes to SharePoint, and such fields are limited to 255 characters – it’s an InfoPath limitation. The workaround for promoting a multiline text field or rich text field to SharePoint is to create the site column ahead of time. Go to the site columns list, create new.
What happens if you change data type to multiple lines of text?
If you have already promoted a column DO NOT CHANGE THE DATA TYPE TO MULTIPLE LINES OF TEXT. This will cause the column to disappear from the Site Columns list, Content Type column list, form library columns list, etc.
