On our SharePoint site, the global and current navigation areas do not update on classic pages when they are edited. The edit option appears on the page, but if I add a link to the navigation, it will save but then nothing will appear. However, if I go to the Site Contents or Site Settings, the navigation has been edited without issue.
Select the site navigation source to display the home site’s navigation. Select the Hub or global navigation source to display the home site’s hub navigation. When you apply the extended header layout to the site, you will no longer see the site navigation. Select the site navigation source to display the home site navigation.
Why do I not see global navigation on my website?
If you do not see Global navigation in the Settings pane on the home site, you may not have site owner permissions (or higher) to the home site. Switch the Enable global navigation toggle to On.
Can a global navigation bar be disabled in SharePoint?

We set the current navigation on all sites to be “Structural Navigation: Display only the navigation items below the current site” and the global navigation is “Display the same navigation items as the parent site” Please let me know if there is anything additional I could try.
I am creating a site in SharePoint 2013 and I’m having a bit of trouble with the Global Navigation. This dropdown is showing all sub-sites as well as a manual link (QOverview) but it’s not showing a Heading (QGlobal). QCompany is a sub-site of QUBE.
What is the level of qglobal in SharePoint?
