How do I unlock a TFS file?
To unlock a folder or file from Source Control Explorer
- While working in the server workspace, navigate to the View menu and choose Other Windows, then choose Source Control Explorer.
- In Source Control Explorer, open the shortcut menu for the folder or file from which you want to remove a lock, and then choose Unlock.

Some things that can be tested, to force the file’s lock to be released are: Logout from MetaShare/SharePoint and login again. Open the document in the Online app and rename the file from there. Check if “Upload Center” has locked this document. If so, you can unlock it from there.
