Are there any examples of high to low poly bakes?
Above are more examples of high to low poly bakes that I personally think came out perfect, the low retains all the detail of the high, the UVs aren’t broken and there are no burns on any of the parts of my asset. Here are some of the normal maps that I have created in Maya and exported ready to be used in Unreal.
How to bake normals for high poly mesh?
The node does not have to be connected to anything it just has to be there. Go to the Render tab in the properties window, go down to Bake, select Normal in Bake Type, set Space to Tangent, check Selected to Active and Cage, and select the cage object in the object selection window
What should my Tri count be for a low poly bake?
The first thing to do is have a low poly model. Sometimes you may be limited to the amount of tris you can use within that model, but it can all still be individual pieces as long as you remain within the tri count given. We were given a tri count of 8,000 and asked to stick to it as best as possible.
What’s the difference between high and low poly?
As you can see above the first image is the low and high poly meshes side by side. The second image is after I baked the high to the low.
