Why hexagonal architecture?
The hexagonal architecture, or ports and adapters architecture, is an architectural pattern used in software design. It aims at creating loosely coupled application components that can be easily connected to their software environment by means of ports and adapters.
What is adapter in clean architecture?
Adapters. An adapter is a software component that allows a particular technology to interact with a port of the hexagon. Adapters are outside ports level. Some people say they are outside, others say that they are like in an upper parent hexagon outside the ports so I would say they are outside ports. That’s it.
What is domain layer in onion architecture?
Domain Entities Layer. It is the center part of the architecture. It holds all application domain objects. If an application is developed with the ORM entity framework then this layer holds POCO classes (Code First) or Edmx (Database First) with entities. These domain entities don’t have any dependencies.
What is the use case for hexagonal architecture?
The Use Case goes in the application layer. But note that this is a dictum of DDD specifically, nothing to do with hexagonal architecture. The web server together with your controller. Doctrine together with your DoctrinePersonRepository. Your Ports: Cockburn says ” What exactly a port is and isn’t is largely a matter of taste.”
What should the use case output port be in clean architecture?
Considering the Clean Architecture definition, and especially the little flow diagram describing relationships between a controller, a use case interactor, and a presenter, I’m not sure if I correctly understand what the “Use Case Output Port” should be.
What should the use case input port be?
Following the communication flow, I expect the “Use Case Input Port” to be a primary port (thus, just a method), and the “Use Case Output Port” an interface to be implemented, perhaps a constructor argument taking the actual adapter, so that the interactor can use it.
Can a hexagonal architecture be used in DDD?
How these queries and commands are exposed (i.e. as HTTP GET or POST) is an implementation detail of the web port adapter that my hexagon needs not to know. Yes, what you’ve done/suggested is right. The Use Case goes in the application layer. But note that this is a dictum of DDD specifically, nothing to do with hexagonal architecture.
