How to change the color of ambient occlusion texture bake?
By default, the ambient occlusion texture bake will include the color of the surface which is the default gray. To fix this, go to the Material tab and drag the color up to pure white and the intensity up to 1.000. Upper box: drag the circle all the way up to pure white.
Is it possible to bake an image with transparency?
As far as I know it’s not possible to bake images with transparency in Cycles, but it’s possible to figure out some workarounds, depending on what you want to achieve. Set up your scene. I’ll just use a simple tree in my example. Place a plane under your objects and scale it big enough to catch all the shadows.
How to make texture baking in Photoshop?
Set the new viewport to the UV/Image Editor: Now Hit Tab to enter Edit Mode. With your cursor over the 3D Viewport, hit A once or twice so that the whole model is selected (orange).
How to get the Shadows I want in my texture?
Open your color texture (called Diffuse map), and the AO bake in an image editor like Photoshop/Gimp. Create a new layer on top of the diffuse layer and copy/paste the AO bake to it. Set the AO bake layers blending mode to Multiply. Adjust Opacity/Levels if needed. Save out the image.
Is the AO map stored as a unique texture?
Typically the AO map is blended into the metalness or specular map, instead of being stored as a unique texture, because this saves memory. However this generally creates incorrect lighting because an AO map should only mask ambient lighting, not specular lighting.
What kind of AO are there in Blender?
What types of AO are there in Blender? There are several ways we can have ambient occlusion in Blender. It differences between Eevee and Cycles. It is available both on a global scale as a post processing effect or as part of the world settings directly in Cycles.
How to add ambient occlusion to a material?
Currently, I have a material, which I’ve added two textures to: Following one of the tutorials on Blender Cloud, I set the Ambient Occlusion texture’s blend property to Multiply. Problem is, this gives me a very dark result on the model, something like this: Not to surprising when the AO map looks like this:
Do you need baked AO for ambient occlusion?
If you have AO enabled in the world settings, you don’t need baked AO at all, because you are calculating global AO at render time. Also, ambient occlusion bakes are useful for a lot of texturing tricks besides actual AO, since they tend to highlight contact points and crevices where dirt is likely to collect.
When to use ambient occlusion in shader?
Also, ambient occlusion bakes are useful for a lot of texturing tricks besides actual AO, since they tend to highlight contact points and crevices where dirt is likely to collect. If you’re using AO for dirt, you generally will end up blending it over the diffuse color (and possibly the spec/gloss/roughness/whatever-it-is-in-your-shader).
